June 14 Superintendent Update Graphic

June 14, 2023

Good afternoon Warren Scholars, Families, and Staff,

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer break so far. I wanted to share a few announcements as we head into summer.

Moorhead Community Resource Center (MCRC), in partnership with Asante Art Institute (AAI), will host the 2nd Annual Juneteenth cultural celebration and resource festival on Monday, June 19th, from 12:00 - 5:00 at MCRC located at 8400 East 10th Street. We hope you can join us as we engage the far Eastside community in this free multi-generational event featuring community partners, educators, Black-owned business vendors, food trucks, and performances.

Creston Intermediate Middle School will host the 2nd Annual IMPD Teen Academy from June 26 to June 30th. This free event is for kids 12 - 14 years old and will have sessions on CSI / Crime Lab Investigations, Conflict Resolutions, Law & Your Community, Physical Fitness Training, and More. If interested in participating, please visit this website, https://indypal.sportngin.com/register/form/904656239, or scan the QR code in the attached flier.

Warren, in partnership with Chartwells, will be serving FREE Summer Breakfast and Lunch Meals this summer for anyone 18 years and younger. Meals will not be served on June 19th and July 4th in observance of federal holidays. Summer Meals will end July 21st for all sites except Ransburg YMCA (July 24th). Please see the attached flyer for locations and times. You can also visit the Nutrislice website for daily menus.

Last week, we shared that we are experiencing technical issues with the Student Information System (Synergy). Families not enrolled in Summer School may experience a temporary interruption in StudentVUE and/or ParentVUE portal access. With the transition into summer school, Synergy has limited access to only students and families enrolled in summer school.

We are continuing to work with our vendor on a permanent solution, and we are confident that regular access will resume once we transition from summer school to the 2023-2024 school year (end of June).

We apologize for this inconvenience. If a need arises for information in Student VUE/ Parent VUE, please contact our Technology Help Desk at 317-869-4321, or you can visit Moorhead Community Resource Center Monday through Friday from 8:00 - 3:00 for in-person support.

Hope you have a great rest of your summer break, and thank you for your investment in our scholars, schools, and staff.

Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
